Like every week, a new episode of the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man re-enters trends in social networks after each broadcast, and this week was no exception. The broadcast of the ninth episode of the series entered trends for two main reasons: a scene starring Kobeni Higashiyama and the closing sequence.
The first refers to a confrontation scene between Kobeni and the enemies on duty. It seems that the fans had a rather unfortunate first impression of the character, considering her “extremely weak”. That’s why it came as a surprise that Kobeni performed so spectacularly in combat, even being able to evade an attack from the Serpent Demon’s tail and easily defeating Katana Man in his human form.
Of course, this scene attracted a lot of comments, notably:
- «Finally the Kobeni scene! For the haters to finally shut their mouths!».
- «Wow, Kobeni single-handedly saved Denji. yes you read right».
- «Oh my gosh, this Kobeni scene was completely unexpected.».
- «Kobeni carting around Chainsaw Man after being labeled “annoying” and “useless” for an entire month».
- «Finally, respect for Kobeni».
- «My Girl Kobeni Finally Beating Allegations From Pushy Fans».
- «MAPPA decided to invest a bit more in the Kobeni scene, thanks».
- «So Kobeni haters, anything to say?».
Second was the fact that in this episode the closing sequence starring Aimer’s theme song, “Deep Down” finally appeared. It turns out that since the production had announced the list of songs (a different one for each episode), the fans had been looking forward to the turn of the song. aimer.
The series has been broadcast since October 11 in Japan and is confirmed with a total of twelve episodes, while the platform crunchyroll is in charge of its distribution in the West. On the other hand, Fujimoto began the publication of the manga Chainsaw Man in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from the publisher Shueisha in December 2018, finishing the first part in December 2020. The second part of the work moved to the digital service Shōnen Jump Pluswhere it has been published since July 2022.
Synopsis for Chainsaw Man
The story takes place in a world where Demons threaten the peace of humans, making them targets to be eliminated. Denji is a depressed young man who has sold several of his organs and works as a lumberjack and demon hunter to pay off his late father’s debt. Denji owns a dog (which is also a demon) named Pochita, who has chainsaws and which he uses to do his work.
This is explained because humans can make contracts with demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a Yakuza to infiltrate a building and kill another demon. However, the plan was a trap to assassinate him as part of a Yakuza contract with the demon, gaining them more power. But Pochita comes to Denji’s aid and bonds with him, becoming a half-man, half-demon and acquiring Pochita’s chainsaws.
